"Rosie the Riveter," was a character in the well known song at the time by Redd Evans and John Jacob Loeb in 1942. The song was a great influence on women joining and helping in factories to support the war cause. Some of its mottoes were "Women, you could hasten victory by working and save your man." As women starting working the jobs the men left behind, some women were known to be better at the jobs then the men. Women only got payed 60 percent of what men would make. Later in 1943, a real life Rosie was brought to life when Walter Pigeon, a Hollywood star, was touring through Ford Motor Company aircraft plant. He met Rosie Will Monroe. He wanted her to star in a government film to promote the war. Later, the famous cartoon image was created by Norman Rockwell. He made two images one of Rosie in overalls, googles on her head, and a sandwich in hand. Then second one which is the most commonly know "We Can Do It" poster.
